If you are a fan of James Woods, you've got to see him in The Hard Way! - 4.5 out of 5 (4/13/1999)
After seeing James Woods in Vampires, I wanted to see more. Sure, I'd seen him in lots of stuff before (like Contact, Nixon, etc.) but he's usually a supporting actor. Here, as in Vampires, he's a kick-ass, take names later leading man. Fast talking, hyper and foul-mouthed, he's totally engaging! I never thought I'd buy a DVD in which Michael J. One of the best buddy movies of recent years.... - 4.25 out of 5 (12/6/1998)
"The Hard Way" suprised me when I first watched it seven years ago. It takes the buddy movie formula to a new level, with some very funny moments. James Woods and Michael J. Fox are well cast in the roles of a high-tempered NYC cop and an annoying, egotistical movie star who wants to learn how to be a cop to prepare for his next desired movie role. There are also some nice action scenes in the movie, like the opening tow-truck chase, and the climatic fight on a bilboard in times square.
