Roy Scheider lends his intense talent taut action-adventure from director William Friedkin. Set on the edge of a South American jungle, a desperate four-man team, led by Scheider, must transport a volatile cargo of nitroglycerine over 200 miles of treacherous terrain in order to stop a potentially disastrous oil fire.
Enter into this potentially explosive mix of split-second strategy and jolting suspense set against an outstanding score by Tangerine Dream.

Roy Scheider's best work - 5 out of 5 (11/27/2006)

A noble attempt... - 3.25 out of 5 (12/29/1999)
There can be no arguing that, "Wages of Fear" is
the superior film. To his credit, however, director
Friedkin does try to explain "how" anyone would end
up in the "god-forsaken" backwash where the story
unfolds. Clouzot's version left you wondering how'd
you end up in this hell-hole in the first place?.
