Empire Review Play Misty again Sam - 4.5 out of 5  (9/24/2001) PLAY MISTY FOR ME is one of those films that started a Hollywood legend. Before the film, Clint Eastwood had been an up and coming star who had several marketable films but what he wanted to do was direct (and what star didn't?) The studio gave him his first chance with PLAY MISTY FOR ME but they gave him a small budget, a short amount of time and almost no help in the making the movie department. Clint, the radio show hipster, looking to strike out on his own, by playing records on a much larger radio station than the small one he currrently inhabits,is suddenly struck with fear when a crazy dame comes into his life.
