Music Man Makes Merry - 4.25 out of 5 (3/1/1999)
One of the 3 great movie musicals to retain the original broadway male lead ("My Fair Lady" and "The King & I" are the others), this tuneful, colorful filmization of Meredith Willson's tribute to his home state of Iowa, is absolutely first-rate. The music is memorable as are the performances of Robert Preston, Shirley Jones, Paul Ford and the others in the cast.
