Synopsis
"A Model of Efficient War Filmmaking." -Variety

War-torn Europe is the setting for this romantic action/adventure about the fateful entanglements of two men in love with the same woman. Lt. David Halloran (Harrison Ford), a courageous American bomber pilot, and a British nurse (Lesley-Anne Down) accidentally meet during an air raid and fall instantly in love. Committed to an assignment, David asks her to meet him two weeks later, in spite of the fact that she is married. And she does. Her husband, Paul Sellinger (Christopher Plummer), is a British intelligence officer in charge of a special, dangerous mission behind enemy lines. As fate would have it, Halloran is chosen to fly Sellinger on the task. When their plane is shot down, the two must work together to complete the mission - and its only then that Halloran discovers who Sellinger is.

HANOVER STREET - 2.5 out of 5  (4/13/2002)
In one of Harrison Ford's least-remembered films, HANOVER STREET (1979,) Ford plays World War II pilot David Halloran, who falls in love with a married and very attractive nurse played by Leslie-Ann Down. She is a nurse who is not happy with her marriage and would leave if it were not for her child and the taboo of divorce. Writer/Director Peter Hyams is usually known for his action films (CAPRICORN ONE, OUTLAND, NARROW MARGIN (1990,) RUNNING SCARRED, THE MUSKETEER, TIMECOP) and though so   more >>

Formula Story, Beautiful Woman, Haunting Music - 3 out of 5  (4/14/2003)
This love story set in World War II is one of countless many "Two-guys-in-love-with-the-same- woman" story. Harrison Ford plays the brash and fearless American Bomber pilot until he meets the breathtakingly beautiflu Lesley Ann Down, falls in love and suddenly discovers that he is no longer the fearless flyer...he has too much to lose. The story, as I said, is pure formula. The one item that would cause me to buy this title is the absolutely beautiful and haunting music.   more >>
