Godzilla (1998) - 4.25 out of 5 (11/10/1998)
The Movie:
The most famous lizard of all time is back and this time he is heading towards the Big Apple, New York City. Now an unusual group of heros must defeat the mighty beast before he destroys the entire city.
This nineties version of Godzilla features a newly redesigned beast as well as a new setting and great special effects. Does this mean that the movie is great? In a word, no. As pure mindless entertainment, yes the movie is somewhat good. It is definately fun to look at

If this movie was just about some random monster, it would have been pretty good in my eyes, but since they tried to tag the great name of "Godzilla" on it, I saw it as a slap in the face to Godzilla fans everywhere. It was well-made and the monster looked good but it wasn't the "real" Godzilla.

Great video & audio, awful movie - 3.25 out of 5 (4/1/2002)
This film was supposed to be released in 1994 after negotiations with Columbia/Tri Star & Toho began in 1992. Jurassic Park stormed theatres but Godzilla was nowhere to be seen. Four years later a simple dark poster with "size does matter" was released as we discovered the duo behind ID4 would be working on this film.
So where this movie go wrong? Well, first while watching the how the people behind the movie tried to maintain as much of Godzilla that everyone knew while making him more mobil
