Welcome to Greenleaf, a picture-postcard Indiana town where the high school is the proud focus of attention and "alternative lifestyle" means you bowl on alternate Tuesdays. But on the night of the Oscars telecast, the town's--and the world's--center of attention is Greenleaf teacher Howard Brackett. A former student who's now a superstar actor tells an audience of millions that Howard is gay. Poor Howard. He's outted when he didn't know he was in!

So Out he's back in again! - 3.75 out of 5 (1/4/2001)
Someone once asked me where writer's get their ideas. I honestly haven't any clue as to where most writers get them, but most Hollywood writers get their from the land of tinsel and glory.
Take the movie "In & Out", where the original idea of a actor outing his high school teacher at the Academy Awards came from the acceptance speech Tom Hanks made for "Philadelphia." Great performance by Kevin Kline, great gay comedy - 3.75 out of 5 (12/5/1998)
A terrific movie with a great cast.
Standout performances by Kevin Kline, Joan Cusack and the real surprise is Tom Selleck as a gay reporter.
Maybe not as funny as The Birdcage, but it's not supposed to be. It's more of a commentary on the public's attitude toward gays. And even people who claim that they aren't homophobic, still might be if the person who is gay is in the public eye.
The ending may be a sort of a let down, but it's message does get through to those who will listen.

Much-hyped (in the UK) comedy about a teacher being "outed" by a former student at the Oscars. It had great potential but is let down by less than brilliant gags (they have to revert to a linking Barbara Streisand = being gay joke every five minutes to try and add humour). Picture quality is excellent but the sound is less than exciting and aside from a trailer there's no DVD extras.
What I want to know is why Kevin Kilner (Earth: Final Conflict) instead of Kevin Kline is featured on the artw
