Think You Know JFK? Well, Until You've Seen Thirteen Days, You Don't Know Jack! - 5 out of 5 (6/26/2001)
What Saving Private Ryan was for D-Day, Thirteen Days is for the Cuban Missile Crisis...it is a remarkably well-made movie filled with historical fact and perhaps the largest number of Oscar-worthy performances that have appeared in one movie since The Godfather.
Yet Thirteen Days was blasted by most critics as being historical inaccurate, and pretty much all but ignored by the American movie-going public. The question is...why? I'll never forget one major critic

Good movie bogged down by pacing - 3.25 out of 5 (8/16/2001)
The heart-pounding direction/editing of All the President's Men and JFK would've greatly improved this political talkie which runs a too long 2:25. Particularly annoying is the random, back and forth, color-to-black-and-white screen. It serves no purpose other than pulling you out of the story (also, I thought something was wrong with my disc at first). The acting is uniformly good (though Kevin Costner should stop trying to be the Meryl Streep of accents) with Steve Culp as RFK a standout. Superb quality! A must-buy! - 4.75 out of 5 (8/6/2001)
Although not completely historically accurate (my father served on the USS Joseph P Kennedy at the time), I must say I was impressed by the quality of the film. Costner and crew did a great job capturing the drama of the Cuban Missile Crisis. But then add all of the historical background and biographical information that was packed into the Infinifilm version, and you get a great DVD. Definately a must-buy!

Outstanding Film, Awesome DVD - 5 out of 5 (7/31/2001)
Thirteen Days is a complex, intelligent, thought-provoking movie with relentless edge-of-your-seat suspense throughout. It takes you right into the White House and Pentagon of October 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis when only the courage and leadership of a handful of men brought the world back from the brink of nuclear war. This intense film, expertly directed by Roger Donaldson, features top-notch performances by a wonderful ensemble cast, most notably Bruce Greenwood and Steven Culp as
