A story of premature reincarnation.
Acclaimed as "the funniest man in America," Chris Rock delivers a first-rate performance in this romantic comedy about a man who gets a second chance at life and love.
Struggling black comic Lance Barton (Rock) knows what it's like to die on stage. But when his life takes an unexpected turn - straight to heaven - Lance is sure there's been a mistake. Miraculously, he's right! An angel tells Lance he was taken prematurely but assures him he can be returned to Earth - in the aged body of a ruthless white billionaire. In this improbable reincarnation Lance begins a hilarious quest to realize his showbiz dream and, along the way, discovers the person he never imagined he could be.

It rocks because of Chris - 3.75 out of 5 (7/2/2001)
DOWN TO EARTH is a remake of HEAVEN CAN WAIT, which itself is a remake of
HERE COMES MR. JORDAN which more than likely was a remake of another film
about reincarnation. I suppose this all goes to prove my theory that there
are few original ideas left in Hollywood.
But is that such a bad thing? I know it means that we don't see too many
original films these days, but it does make the films that do seem original
stand out all the more.
And you really can't do to badly having Chris Roc

great movie - 3.75 out of 5 (2/11/2003)
this was a great movie. Chris Rock was haliourious. I don't know anyone else that could have pulled off that part. This movie is up there in in my rankings of movies. The little jokes people might say are stupid but i found them to be great. This is a movie that everyone should own.

PLEASE PAST ON THIS ONE - 2.25 out of 5 (8/1/2001)
THE PLOT OF THE MOVIE (sucks, corny jokes and hard to watch)
THE DVD VIDEO QUALITY (good picture)
THE DVD AUDIO (good sound)
This movie seem like you're watching an blooper, I mean it is played around Chris corny jokes.

A showcase of Chris Rock's Standup Comedy - 3 out of 5 (7/24/2001)
Chris Rock did not impress me with this film. It definately wasn't one of his better releases. It seems he is more intent on showcasing his standup comedy routine than developing a good storyline, and characters. No matter which body he "jumps" into, he HAS to perform his jokes...most of which are old ones from his earlier routines....in other words, many were old!!!!
For most of the film, he is in the body of a rich old white male who happens to be a cold business executive more concerned wit
