Mis-information in previous reviews - 3 out of 5 (7/8/2001)
The two reviews above are by people who obviously made uninformed purchases. The disc in this set is the very same disc packaged in the 'NEW' Stanley Kubrick Collection (9 discs in all0. It is also available as an individule title. Both image and audio have been remastered and 2001 has not looked this good sicnce its original theatrical release. The DD 5.1 audio is also much better than the previous (MGM) release. It is true that purchase of this special boxed edition gives you nothing extra on

My Lord Why Have You Forsaken Me? - 3.75 out of 5 (6/21/2001)
I can't go on living in this world, where in the year 2001 (the time to release the definitive version of the greatest fill ever made) we get this. The gods of motion film have frowned upon us this day. For now we must tolerate this second-hand version of the original DVD release, with less special features than before. Stanley Kubrick is now rolling over in his grave. All we get in the ways of a nice suprise specail feature here is the piece of film, and the poster offer. Thanks Warner Bro

Collector's Edition of 2001 a Rip-Off? - 3.75 out of 5 (6/13/2001)
The year is 2001. The movie is 2001.
You'd think that with a special limited edition costing $50.00, that this'd be the best darn edition of 2001 available.
Alas, the extra cost is for packaging. The "Collector's Edition" comes with a DVD that has LESS special features than the $18.00 version -- the "Collector's Edition" only comes with one trailer and NO OTHER special features, but the $18.00 version comes with 2 theatrical trailers and an interview with Arthur C. Clarke.
