"A top-drawer adventure thriller with superb performances." -Jeffrey Lyons, WNBC-TV/ New York
Alice Bowman is world-traveled and savvy but nothing could prepare her for this. Rebels in a politically volatile Latin American country have kidnapped her husband for ransom. The asking price: $3 million.
Meg Ryan plays Alice and Russell Crowe is Terry Thorne, the hostage retrieval expert who becomes Alice's only hope in navigating a high-stakes game where terrorists value money over life, in this suspense-packed film named one of the year's 10-best films by Time. Taylor Hackford directs, steadily tightening the emotional vise as Terry and Alice try to smoke out the perpetrators and rescue Alice's husband (David Morse)... and as both confront the gnawing awareness that they're attracted to each other. Taut, thought-provoking and terrific, Proof Of Life is gripping proof that the romantic thriller is forcefully alive.

Proof in the pudding - 4.25 out of 5 (6/18/2001)
PROOF OF LIFE is a film of many values:
The film is a good one, it has all the right tension, it has some capable
actors and it has a master director behind the helm who knows how to make a
suspenseful film.
The film is also a perfect example of how not to make a film in Hollywood.
I suppose I'll just get it out of the way at first that this is the film
that caused the breakup of one of the more successful marriages in
Hollywood. The triangle that came between Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan

One hell of a powerfull movie - 4.5 out of 5 (7/26/2001)
I can be very quick with this one...it's a very good movie with some clever twists in it. The acting is very well done by all actors, as is the directing of the whole movie. Don't listen to the critics and see this movie, rent or buy i don't care but do one of the above for your own good. This movie shouldn't be missed.
The only thing of little dissapointment is the lack of more extra features... but i think so on more then half of all dvd's.
