You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll even be offended.
Dedee Truitt is the opposite of sweet sixteen. Politically incorrect, outrageous, and bracingly honest, she descends on the Indiana town of her half-brother Bill like the force of nature she is. Within weeks Dedee seduces his beautiful but befuddled live-in-boyfriend Matt, announces Matt's the father of her unborn child, and escapes with him--and $10,000 of Bill's money--to the not-so-bright lights of Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Matt's other boyfriend blames Bill for his disappearance, and gets even by pushing for an investigation by the local sheriff--who incidentally carries a torch for Bill's best friend Lucia, a wickedly acid spinster who disapproves of everything Dedee does--and hey, who can blame her?

Overrated.... - 3.25 out of 5 (3/4/2000)
This is one of the overrated films of 1998...
It has an interesting plot but loses its
appeal after 40 mins or so...
Main character Dedee is good actress but she cant
save this film...
The story isn't much interesting, and it has to end a lot
before it does, because it turns very long.
Other than Lisa Kudrow not much going on here. Some interesting dialogue
but not enough to carry the movie....
Please save yourself from disappointment......

A Wonderful Film with a Title that Means What It Says - 4 out of 5 (6/25/1999)
Reading the other reviews, I would say that most people are missing the point. This is an unusual movie, and it will set you back a bit if all you want is something done to a formula, which is how most movies are. The acting is fine, the sound is OK, but what really makes this movie work is the script. It's a story about all kinds of love relationships--between teenagers, between gays, between old friends, between couples who can't have sex, and within families--and about how sex, which is wh

Opposite of DVD, VCR Tape - 2.75 out of 5 (6/18/1999)
Since there aren't may comments (as of 6/18/99) on this DVD let me throw my two cents in the fix.
I really don't like a movie that is nearly all narration. I find it distracting and taking away from the acting and scenes. I wasn't wild how the movie, to me, jumped from time frame to time frame, and situation to situation. On the up side, the "dark humor" I found funny. I also thought that the acting was believable.
To the technical, very average. The sound track was to soft. The cen
