Empire Review DIARY OF A CHAMBERMAID - 3 out of 5  (6/19/2002) Jean Moreau is one of the great movie stars of the 20th Century and Luis Bunuel's DIARY OF A CHAMBERMAID (1964) is one of her best films and the second version of the 1900 Octave Mirbeau novel. The 1946 Jean Renoir film came first. She plays Celestine, a new arrival among the servants in the home of a rich Monteli family in 1930s France.
