Mike Nichols superbly directed this cinematic adaptation of Joseph Heller's scathing black comedy about a small group of flyers in the Mediterranean in 1944. There are winners and losers, opportunists and survivors. Separately and together they are nervous, frightened, often profane and sometimes pathetic. Almost all are a little crazy. Catch-22 is an anti-war satire of epic proportions.

Yossarian!!! - 3.5 out of 5 (11/14/2002)
Wildly entertaining satire on the insanities of war. I really enjoyed this movie. The disc looks great overall. I became a little nauseous listening to the director commentary as it seemed mostly to be guest commentator Stephen Soderbergh kissing Mike Nichols' butt. Despite that I would recommend this movie for anyone's collection.

Major, Major, Major Marks! - 4.25 out of 5 (6/6/2001)
Catch 22 is a brilliant film. It's timeless.
So many good performances, so brilliantly crafted.
To coin the often over used phrase, they don't make 'em like this anymore! Shame really.
The commentary is a God send.
The other extras are a tad limited but who cares!
The commentary is the most important!
It's not often Paramount produce these gems but thank goodness that they do!
