What do you get when you mix T-Birds, Bermuda shorts, bubble-flip 'dos and incredible dancing? You get Shag, The Movie - "a comic free-for-all" (The New York Times) that Variety calls "fun and breezy" and you'll call a blast!
Carson (Phoebe Cates, Fast Times at Ridgemont High) is all set to marry respectable but boring Harley (Tyrone Power Jr., Cocoon) until her best friends Melaina (Bridget Fonda, Single White Female), Pudge (Annabeth Gish, Mystic Pizza), and Luanne (Page Hannah, TV's Fame) whisk her off for a last-fling beach party where all the girls have the time of their lives! A charming "bad boy" throws Carson's marriage plans into the spin cycle. His nerdy sidekick whirls Pudge through some dazzling dance steps. Sultry Melaina learns some sexy moves from an Elvis-like teen idol. And even straight-laced Luanne whips off her horn-rimmed glasses and tosses her innocence to the wind!

SHAG: THE MOVIE - 2.75 out of 5 (12/5/2001)
A new contest is going on and guess what it is, Shagging!?! Austin Powers, what on sandcastles and ocean waves did you start? Sorry fans, it isn't THAT kind of shagging. This is about the dance. The time period is during John F. Kennedy's Presidency, fancy T-Birds, Bermuda pants, and the kids are ready to party in this 1989 comedy called SHAG: The Movie!

Why Bother buying the DVD if you have already the LD - 2 out of 5 (10/15/2001)
By the coming of DVDs, we - the movie buffs believe that all the movies whether old or new will shine & earn a space in the shelf of every collector. However, this DVD sucks!! Not only the video is poor & lousy, the audio is even worse. Truly, this movie is not a blockbuster. But if MGM guys decided to make a DVD out of it, they should at least give it a decent effort in doing it!
