This continuation of the adventures of the Man of Steel (Christopher Reeve) takes up where the original left off, showing spectacular new tricks to surpass it! "I thought the original Superman was terrific entertainment," Roger Ebert wrote, "and so I was a little startled to discover that I liked Superman II even more."
Three fugitive super-powered Kryptonian do-badders (Terence Stamp, Sarah Douglas and Jack O'Halloran) plan to enslave the Earth -- just when Superman decides to show a more romantic side to Lois Lane (Margot Kidder). The timing is off for the son of Jor-El, but it's ideal for a special-effects fan's dream come true as Metropolis comes under siege. Gene Hackman (as Lex Luthor) also returns from the first film and with a top supporting cast, witty Richard Lester direction and visuals that astound and delight, this comic book-come-to-life has become an enduring all-family wow!

A better movie, a worser disc - 3.5 out of 5 (4/23/2001)
SUPERMAN II is widely considered one of the best sequels of all time. This
is evidenced by the fact that this movie is regularly played on cable
stations who forgo the original over this more action packed sequel.
The story of the movie starts in the original film where the three traitors
to the planet Krypton General Zod, Ursa and Nod are accidentally released
from their prison in the Phantom Zone. They travel to Earth to seek revenge
on the last surviving heir of Jor-El who now goes b

Disappointing - 3 out of 5 (5/1/2002)
An extremely disappointing version of one of the greatest fantasy movies of all time. I happened to have a version of Superman II taped off of ABC back from the early 80's and there are little scenes and comments, enough to matter, that have been cut out of this DVD version to really get annoying. I don't know who's bright idea it was to put all of their time into the Superman I conversion and totally go cheap with this one, but whoever it is they should be fired and never be hired in the ente

Superman II - Dammit; why'd they fire Dick Donner ... ?!! - 3 out of 5 (4/30/2002)
This disc is of interest only in respect to it's relationship to the first picture. There is a trailer included, but no real restoration has been attempted of either the film's theatrical release cut -- or Donner's original cut, before being fired. I'm sure everyone knows this story, but essentailly, Donner shot footage on a daily basis, for both Pictures: Superman The Movie, and Superman: Part II. When the picutres got too expensive, they shut down, finished the first and released it over th
