The director of Pump Up The Volume cranks it up another notch with this comedy about an eventful day in the lives of the young slackers, doers and dreamers who work at the bustling store called Empire Records. Empire Review I think it was a good film - 4.5 out of 5  (4/2/2001) I think I might have been one of two people that actually saw "Empire Records" in the theater. I suspect my date was the other because we saw the movie on a crowded Friday night during primetime and we were the only ones in the theater. The entire box office run went like that as the film closed with barely a whimper in the box office.
