Synopsis
A new time, a new odyssey, a new chance to confront the enigmas arising from the daring Jupiter mission of the year 2001. Crew members aboard the Leonov are on course to rendezvous with the sill-orbiting Discovery. What they don't know is that they are equally on course for an uncharted realm of human destiny. And that their fate will rest on the silicon shoulders of the computer they reawaken, HAL-9000.

In this awesome film based on Arthur C. Clarke's sequel novel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, filmmaker Peter Hyams (Capricorn One, Outland) crafts an absorbing spellbinder that builds on its landmark movie predecessor yet is captivating in its own right. The year is 2010. Time to discover we are not alone.

"My God, It's Full Of Stars!" - 3.75 out of 5  (9/24/2000)
"My God, It's Full Of Stars!" Like it's predecessor, there are two schools of thought about 2010, the 1984 sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey. There are those who believe it betrays the first film by giving us answers to much of what was left up to our own minds from the first film, and there are those who believe it succeeds for exactly the same reasons. I fall into the latter of the groupings...in fact, overall, I think that 2010 is a better movie than 2   more >>

Not anamorphic. - 3.25 out of 5  (11/8/2004)
This DVD is not anamorphic, despite what the packaging and this website say. It is 2:35 leterboxed and could definitely stand a remastering into anamorphic with some major cleanup and restoration work. Still, a good sci-fi yarn, although nowhere near the classic that "2001" is.   more >>

2010 - Hyams best picture - 4 out of 5  (4/21/2002)
Very spiffy film. Nothing is perfect however, and if you're a fan of 2001 and expecting the same level of awe -- you're out of luck. However, if you're simply expecting a pretty good (serious) SF film, you're in luck. Director Hyams (Outland, Running Scared) has spent much effort and time with writer Arthur C. Clarke to do this one rite, and it has indeed payed off. Although not typically identified as being so, this is one of the better science-fiction pictures ever made. The original MGM   more >>

couldn't hope to live up to the original movie. Entertaining Sci-Fi all the same. - 2.75 out of 5  (10/19/2000)
This DVD is not anamorphic, as stated on your site, or for that matter as on the box.   more >>
