Empire Review Not a film for the squeamish - 3.25 out of 5  (3/19/2001) "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover" is a film not for the squeamish. I guess this statement seems a little too late if you bought the DVD already. I also believe it's quite repetitive because every review I have ever read about the film has started with practically the same words. But now I know why they all did.
