When his spacecraft is shot down over Wisconsin, Starman (Bridges) arrives at the remote cabin of a distraught young widow, Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen), and clones the form of her dead husband. The alien convinces Jenny to drive him to Arizona, explaining that if he isn't picked up by his mothership in three days, he'll die. Hot on their trail are government agents, intent on capturing the alien, dead or alive. En route, Starman demonstrates the power of universal love, while Jenny rediscovers her human feelings for passion.

STARMAN - 3.5 out of 5 (6/16/2001)

Carpenter unmasked - 3.5 out of 5 (4/8/2001)

My only reasoning for why so many Carpenter fans would want to grill him for this truly touching film is the fact that there isn't a white masked serial killer showcased within it! It see

One has to remember that John Carpenter has always had a predilection for rebellious characters. In Starman, this role is held by the civil head of extra-terrestrial affairs. In fact, it was easy to recognize him since he is the only one who has a furious taste for the cigars. In a terrif
