A comedy about truth, justice andiother special effects.
When the President is caught in a sex scandal less than 2 weeks before election, White House spinmaster Conrad Brean creates a phony war with the help of Hollywood producer Stanley Motss. It's a wickedly funny political satire that couldn't be more timely.

Truth is stranger than fiction? - 4.5 out of 5 (2/25/2000)
Let's take an impossible story. Let's say the President of the United States had illicit relations with someone who was not his wife.
Now lets start with that fictional story and make a....

The President did what?
Oh, I'm sorry. Suddenly this story isn't so fictional. I guess movies are based somewhat on fact.
"Wag the Dog" takes the very same premise and spins it into a yarn so unbelievable that it makes you terrified for

Political Satire... - 4 out of 5 (3/30/2000)
After being caught in a scandalous situation days before the election, the president does not seem to have much of a chance of being re-elected. One of his advisors (DeNiro) contacts a top Hollywood producer (Hoffman) in order to manufacture a war in Albania that the president can heroically end, all through mass media.
Wag the Dog is a funny and engrossing stylized political satire for anyone who has not killed all of his brain cells...
This movie has a fine cast, including DeNiro good as

Wag The Dog? More Like "Wag The Viewer" - 2.75 out of 5 (9/19/1999)
This is one SORRY movie. I came with the Robert De Niro DVD movie pack (Heat, Good Fellas, A Bronx Tale, Analyze This, Wag The Dog). I was SO bored by the story itself and Anne Heche's "acting". Please don't waste your time (or money) on this loser.

Very good and timely political comedy - 3.75 out of 5 (3/7/1999)
How timely! Great story, it flows very well, and a wonderful performance by Dustin Hoffman. The story is, President gets caught up in a sex scandal so media manipulator and Hollywood producer must defuse the story by inventing a war. Sound familiar? DeNiro and Hoffman are both convincing in their attempt to sway the public away from the scandal and onto the war. Anne Heche is the only disappointment in the film. She's not that bad but suffers from having to perform on the same stage as the maste
