The Scariest Movie Of All Time.
Brace yourself as one of the all-time spellbinders possesses you all over again. Director William Friedkin and producer/screenwriter William Peter Blatty have revisited The Exorcist to integrate 11 minutes of scenes and images deleted before the film's 1973 release and digitally restore the picture and audio elements. The result is an experience more gripping than ever.
Now seen are moments deepening the impact of the performances by Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn, Jason Miller, Max von Sydow and Lee J. Cobb. They include a "nervous disorder" diagnosis, expansion of Father Merrin's arrival before the ritual, priestly doubts during the ritual, an epilogue with Lt. Kinderman and Father Dyer and most notably, a shattering staircase descent by Regan. Winner of Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay (by Blatty) and Sound, The Exorcist astonishes time and again like no other movie.

Mired with additional material the film is still a classic - 4.75 out of 5 (11/5/2002)
Back in 1973 a film was released that would change the moviegoer's expectations of how a film should scare them. A simple story of a little girl possessed by evil would forever raise the bar on the horror genre. The Exorcist was this film. On the surface it was a pair of priests Father Karras (Jason Miller) and Father Merrin (Max von Sydow) fighting to drive out a demon from sweet little Reagan (Linda Blair). The themes of good versus evil run far deeper in this tale providing the film with far

"THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU" - 5 out of 5 (4/27/2001)
What would a little twelve-year-old innocent girl do to warrant a demonic possession? Could it be the Devil himself trying to show how worthless humans are and how easy they are to turn innocence to evil?
In 1973 the most horrific film ever to be produced was directed by William Friedkin, (French Connection, Sorcerer) and put to on the silver screen to terrorize the viewers mind. And boy "howdy", did it ever! THE EXORCIST is an intense and ferocious battle of good and evil, Regan (Linda Bl

I'm amazed . . . - 4.5 out of 5 (8/19/2003)
It amazes me how a teen-ager today will watch this movie and say something like, "It was funny" or "It wasn't very scary." Yet, they will watch a movie about a posessed videotape ("The Ring") and most likely say that it was "freaky scary." A possessed videotape? C'mon. A posessed videotape more frightening than that of evil, true evil from the depths of all that is unholy, invading a twelve year-old's body and making her do unspeakable acts to herself, other people, to the mother in which she

It really is THAT scarry - 4.5 out of 5 (1/12/2002)
ok first of all, this is one of the best movies of all time. and this new version only makes it better. it is only 11 mins of extra footage, and i doubt anyone can seriously say that a lousy 11 mins slows down the film. It only makes it better, filling in plot holes. It now shows more of the process of regan becoming possesed, shows her being perscribed the ritalin that before was only mentioned later, karass asking father dyer why regan became possesed, and other needed moments....this is a

Enjoyable, but NOT SCARY !!! - 3.25 out of 5 (7/10/2001)
I'm 16 years old and I have seen The Exorcist. Take my word for it, it is simply
NOT SCARY!!! Good makeup for the girl which does look rather freaky but otherwise
this movie is NOT SCARY!!! The most violent part is, well, there's really not much
violence to speak of. The scariest part is just the sight of Linda Blair with a heap
of make up on and also that creepy voice she has. Honestly though, there are absolutely
no genuine moments that make you jump off your couch. The Scream movies
