Faith Is A Funny Thing.
In this hilarious comic fantasy from writer/director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy), two banished angels (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) find a loophole that would get them back into Heaven. The only snag? They'll be destroying existence in the process. In an effort to stop them, the overworked Voice of God (Alan Rickman) taps cynical mortal Bethany (Linda Fiorentino) to save the world by preventing the angels from reaching their unholy destination: New Jersey! Throw in two unlikely prophets named Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith), the quick-witted yet little-known thirteenth apostle(Chris Rock) and a sexy, former muse with a case of writer's block (Salma Hayek), and you've got an hysterical and thrilling race against time packed with an all-star cast that Entertainment Weekly called "one of the best movies of 1999!"

almost perfect - 4.75 out of 5 (6/18/2001)
The review for the film portion of DOGMA: SPECIAL EDITION is actually going
to be pretty simple. I'm just going to say see the review on the regular
edition of DOGMA, because you are essentially looking at the same movie
here. There aren't that many differences between this editions version of
the film and the regular edition with no bells and whistles.
But, there endeth the lesson because there endeth the differences. This is
one special edition that truly lives up to its name. In an e

I first saw this movie when I was like...12.I thought it was funny and brilliant. It had really great casts. The usual Affleck,Damon,Lee.I liked Lee the best.He played the demon.I later bought this 2 disc dvd 2 years later.I like the comentary with the jersey boys.I also like this one part where u click on the menu and this 50 year old lady preach about how bad and evil this film is.I can tell she liked Smith.4 outta 5 for this one.Your jersey collection aint complete witout DOgma.

It doesn't get better than this - 5 out of 5 (10/26/2001)
The characters created by Kevin Smith are top-rate, only matched by the performances given by the actors. Afleck and Damon are hilarious as fallen angels and I could watch their discourses on religion and the nature of God countless times. Linda Fiorentino, Chris Rock and Alan Rickman all provide fantastic performances as do Jason Mewes and Smith himself. This film has no weakness - George Carlin pushing "Buddy Jesus" and "Catholicism WOW" had me rolling. Buy It.
