Brothers By Blood. Enemies By Chance. Killers By Nature.
A Better Tomorrow is the film that started it all, full of John Woo's now-classic trademarks of jaw-dropping style, heart-stopping action and gunfire mayhem that must be seen to be believed. Chow Yun Fat stars in this epic story of suave gangsters and renegade cops who discover that in a world bound by honor, revenge comes at the speed of a bullet.
Written, and directed by John Woo, this is the breakthrough film that made international superstars of both Woo and Chow Yun Fat, and single-handedly changed the look of action movies forever!

John Woo + Chow Yun Fat = CLASSIC - 3 out of 5 (9/4/2002)
I just saw this film and I must say WOW. This rises over most action films today. A deep story with violent action scenes is a rarity nowadays.

And, to be fair, the picture IS very nice. It's not perfect but I put that down to the film stock used rather than Anchor Bay'

Movie is the best but the copy is the worst - 3 out of 5 (3/13/2001)
I'm a Hong Kong Chow's fan for more than 30 years. I was looking forward to take a look at this new region 1, his masterpiece movie. You know, how this movie influences HK's movie and also the stepping stone of John Woo. I got a region 3 (HK version) already and it is very disappointing me since it is not released with the original music. Hence I was waiting a new version and hopefully to get an ORIGINAL copy, same as what I saw in the theater.
Unfortunately, it is much worse than region 3 ver
