A battle of gigantic proportions is looming in the neon underground of New York City. The armies of the night number 100,000; they outnumber the police 5 to 1; and tonight they're after the Warriors -- a street gang blamed unfairly for a rival gang leader's death.
This contemporary action-adventure story takes place at night, underground, in the sub-culture of gang warfare that rages from Coney Island to Manhattan to the Bronx. Members of the Warriors fight for their lives, seek to survive in the urban jungle and learn the meaning of loyalty. This intense and stylized film is a dazzling achievement for cinematographer Andrew Laszlo.

Make way for the warriors! - 3.5 out of 5 (1/15/2001)
There's a running joke around here about the movies that paramount chooses to release onto DVD. "The Warriors" brought up the most questions because few people even recognized the title. I knew of it well, in fact I sold about one a day in ten years of being a video sales rep.
The movie is the original anti-hero film. The plot is simple. The film is set in an unspecified future when the gangs run New York. There are over 250 gangs in the streets and they are invited to partake in a truce in C

Film & audio rocks!! - 4.25 out of 5 (3/13/2003)
You guys need to lighten up.The (original) mono soundtrack rocks. It's restored to it's full effect. The opening score sounds awsome & really pulls you into the film.Lots of background dialogue can be heard easily durring the big meeting where before on garbled VHS & tv showings. You could barely make out a word.
So i'm glad Paramount did not waste their time & $$ of remixing it into 5.1 since it would sound horrible most likely!
Learn to appreciate original soundtracks. Not all films were

An all time classic - 3.5 out of 5 (7/16/2002)
This movie rocks. Kind of funny looking at the hair in these days, but this movie is effective. I do remember seeing an alternate beginning sequence on TV and would like to have seen it on the disc.

one of my all times fav's - 3 out of 5 (6/5/2002)
shame no extended footage , and better audio cos its got some cool trax-especially when the baseball furies [best make-up/gang] rise over the hill in hot persuit . when i heard this toon i had to go hunt down the orig 7" single :-)
the films got superb gritty fights , top afro's , no cheesy 1 liners or hollywod corn . a top lads film straight out of NY with violence and spray art galore .
its a classic thats still perfect 25 years on . stylishly streetwise suckaaaaaaaas !
