Prequel to the sequel of the Mummy - 4.5 out of 5 (10/1/2002)
When considering the merits of the beloved genre, action/adventure, you have to remember that this class of film serves to provide pure, thrilling entertainment. You can't compare something like the 'Scorpion King' to a film the caliber of 'The Godfather'. Still, this film has merit among its peers. Most films of this genre are to some degree or another created by a formula. Now don't get me wrong, this is not always a bad thing. Here all the usual elements are there and they combine to create a

Say what you want, they knew what they were doing - 5 out of 5 (1/6/2003)
A truly awesome fun adventure film, it KNEW it wouldn't beat Conan, so they made it a little campy to compensate. In the realm of low-fantasy films where Conan is king, Scorpion King is a close second.
The video and audio are superb, especially since this is a one-disc packed special edition. Amazing colours really stand out, and those extra features are great, even the tidbits about the real King Scorpion.
Highly recommended for any fan of action movies. :)

A fun romp! - 4.5 out of 5 (10/25/2002)
In The Mummy Returns, the Scorpion King didn't get to speak. But in this feature role, around which a movie was built, Dwayne Johnson (of WWF fame), is surprisingly quite articulate.
His main squeeze is an evil sorceress played by the gorgeous Kelly Hu. She shows off a lot of skin and reminded me of porn star, Tera Patrick, except with much softer cheekbones and other less pointy extremities.
All of the bad guys and smart guys speak with British accents, as is customary in adventur

Not bad... - 4.5 out of 5 (10/18/2002)
for a movie that is supposed to be related to the mummy. Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson does a pretty great job for his first film debut not perfect though. Kelly Hu is absolutely stunning and the rest of the case blends in perfectly. I gave the film a 3 because there could have been more to it. The movie was a bit rushed Imo. I won't spoil it for ya though. Great dolby 5.1 soundtrack and clear animorphic transfer. Features are awesome for you should check out the outakes, it's pretty hilarious. This
