Unrated andiR-Rated Versions
From the director of Happiness and Welcome to the Dollhouse comes the comedy that shines a light on the dark side of human behavior. Take a journey from innocence to experience, kindness to cruelty and love to hate with an emotionally needy college student (Selma Blair) and a dysfunctional family man (John Goodman) as they learn some of life's most difficult lessons. Masterfully balancing both fact and fiction, acclaimed writer-director Todd Solondz uses razor sharp wit and an observing eye to cut open his characters and skewer the American dream.

Two dark tales of suburban life - 4.75 out of 5 (7/24/2002)
Some moviemakers dare to tread the thin line of exploring the human condition and being just plain morose. They present a look at life that is real but displays little in the way of hope or optimism. Todd Solondz is such a director and in his latest opus, Storytelling, he presents two tales that may depress but are certain to engross you. The first part is titled 'Fiction'. It opens with a young college student Vi (Selma Blair) just finishing having sex with her boyfriend Marcus (Leo Fitzpatric

Disappointed... - 3 out of 5 (8/15/2002)
After all I've heard about Todd Solondz' "Storytelling", I was surprised by my feeling of disappointment when the end credits started rolling. The casting was excellent. The acting was superb. The characters had incredible depth and realness to them. Just when the plot was thickening it dropped out from underneath you and the show was over. As though Todd was saying to his audience, "Look at all of these wonderfully complex characters I'm developing. Oh well, I'm out of time.. "
The video was
