No one stays innocent forever.
This contemporary urban fable, loosely based on Dostoyevsky's Crime And Punishment, is a gripping and provocative account of a young woman's attempt to permanently end the advances of her abusive step-father. Starring Monica Keena ("Dawson's Creek"), Vincent Kartheiser (Another Day In Paradise) and James DeBello (American Pie), along with veterans Ellen Barkin (Drop Dead Gorgeous) and Michael Ironside (The Perfect Storm), Crime + Punishment In Suburbia is a deeply affecting and utterly disturbing tale of betrayal and redemption.
Rosanne (Keena) is a cheerleader who dates a football player (DeBello) and gets drunk at parties. But she's also a killer. She convinces her boyfriend to sneak out of a pep rally for a date with destiny, revenge...and the brutal murder of her abusive step-father. But once she's gotten away with murder, Rosanne is shocked to learn that her mother's untimely arrival at the scene of the crime has put her behind bars! Now Rosanne must struggle with her inner demons. Can she do the right thing or will her Mom take the fall for Rosanne's vicious crime?

Crime doesn't Pay! - 3 out of 5 (1/29/2001)
"Crime & Punishment in Suburbia" is a contemporary urban fable supposedly
loosely based on Fyodor Dostoyevskys' original book called "Crime and
Punishment' but it takes the barest bones of the book and turns it into
something new and decidedly unsavory.
The movie, which stars Monica Keena, owes as much to "American Beauty" as
it does to the original book. It tells the horrible story of a crime of
passion and the guilt that results. Like "Beauty" the movie is gripping and
its characters

This Movie Rocks! - 3.5 out of 5 (10/23/2003)
This is my second favorit movie(with The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy being the first)I feel this Film is highly underrated, and that it should br relesed as a special edition. It has a lot of meaning, and very well conceived characters you can relate to. this dvd is not costly, and you should definetly check it out.

What a classic... - 4 out of 5 (1/8/2001)
"Crime and Punishment in Suburbia" ranks among one of the most creative and unique films in American history. When I first saw this film at the video store, I was skeptical of renting it. I was reading the book "Crime and Punishment" for an English class, and didn't have time to finish it. I thought this movie was going to give a modern version of the book, but it turned out to be completely different. That isn't necessarily a bad thing though. Check this movie out if you want something biz
