Synopsis
...The Dead Are Among Us!

Zombie has some of the most gut-wrenching scenes of bodily violation ever seen. From slow motion tracheotomies to exploding heads and the agonizing scene of the lovely Olga Karlato's beautiful eye being pulled into a wooden splinter. There is even an underwater battle between a zombie and a shark--guess who wins.

A good movie, a lousy transfer - 2.75 out of 5  (4/3/2000)
Try to follow me because this gets confusing. "Dawn of the Dead" was originally titled "Zombie" in Italy because they needed to make a one-word title. An American director directed "Dawn". "Zombie" was originally shot by an Italian director and released in Italy as "Zombie 2." It was released in America as "Zombie." To make matters more confusing, the Italian gorefest was originally filmed with an English soundtrack and then re-dubbed back into Italian, which was the   more >>

great zombie flick! - 3.25 out of 5  (7/24/2000)
I saw this at a drive-in theater in Cherokee, Iowa when it opened. It was good & gross then, and still is a gnarly flick to watch.   more >>

THE BEST FULCI DISK OUT - 4.5 out of 5  (6/18/2000)
THIS IS WITHOUT DOUBT, THE BEST LUCIO FULCI DVD OUT, THE FEATURES AND EVERYTHING ARE EXCELLENT. IT'S NICE TO SEE THIS FILM UNCUT FOR ONCE, HAVING ONLY SEEN THE BUTCHERED BRITISH VERSION. A CLASSIC.   more >>

"Zombie" eats yarbles - 1 out of 5  (6/8/2000)
I don't know what the big deal is with "Zombie". To put it quite bluntly, it sucks. It's laughably lame. The only good thing about it is the "infamous splinter scene", and in my opinion a movie shouldn't have to rely on gore to be a good movie. Fulci's "House by the Cemetary" (which is also kind of lame) is a hell of a lot better than this. The scene with the zombie underwater embodies the lameness of this movie.   more >>
