Classic Chicago Movie - 3.5 out of 5 (3/17/1999)
First I have to say, Bob Banka's review was a bit harsh. I really don't know how you can judge the sharpness or video quality of a DVD movie on a projector. They are notorious for fuzzy, grainy images. You just do not get the same quality as you do from a nice big screen, tube TV.
This is a classic movie, made in 1981. I'm sure the film has been damaged over time, but I feel they did a nice job with the transfer to DVD. True, it is not breath-taking or above average, but it is great to s

At first, there are the lights :
GREEN like the rain overflowing the city.
BLUE like happiness and the sea.
YELLOW like my wife's hair and the sun.
RED like my anger and the fire.
Then, there's my postcard upon which my life is described.
At last come the others who don't let me work, love and be free.
There is no other way for me than to kill, to destroy my life and to disappear.

Michael Mann + James Caan = AWESOME MOVIE! - 4.25 out of 5 (11/14/1998)
For the longest time, I looked all over the Chicago and St. Louis areas for this movie on VHS. Then I got DVD this summer and forgot about it. I was browsing around and what did I come across, but "Thief!" I thought, "Bonus! After all this time, I finally find it, and it's on DVD!
