According to New York Magazine, Tucker: A Man And His Dream is "as fast, sleek and streamlined as the car - the Tucker Torpedo, that Preston Tucker built in 1948." And filmmakers Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas celebrate Preston Tucker as the ultimate believer in the American dream.
In a dazzling portrayal by Jeff Bridges, Tucker is a dynamic engineer and an enthusiastic showman who envisions the car of the future. Against mighty odds he manages to build a fleet of them - only to have his factory shut down by Detroit's Big Three automobile manufacturers. They took away his car - but nobody could take away his dream.

Hold The Tiger! - 4 out of 5 (11/11/2000)
What Howard Hughes was to the aviation industry, Preston Tucker was to the automotive industry, introducing such innovations as fuel injection and seatbelts, among others. However, few have heard of Tucker, at least not until Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas teamed up to make 1988's Tucker: The Man and His Dream, a visual delight that captures the spirit of the man, if not quite capturing the complexity of him.
Tucker's idea to build a car that was safer, better and more appealing

THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE - 3.5 out of 5 (11/5/2000)
TUCKER WAS THE KIND OF MAN THAT NEVER BACKED DOWN TO ANYTHING OR ANYONE. THIS MOVIE SHOWS HOW 1 MAN WENT FROM A SMALL TIME ENTREPRENEUR TO BE ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS MEN IN HISTORY BECAUSE OF HIS IDEAS AND OF HIS KNOW HOW. LET'S NOT FORGET THAT HE WAS THE FIRST AMERICAN TO EVER INTRODUCE TO THE REST OF AMERICA THE MID-ENGINE CAR. FOR ME, TUCKER IS A MUST SEE FILM AND NOT ONLY BECAUSE JEFF BRIDGES IN THIS MOVIE PLAYS SUCH A CONVINCING ROLE THAT YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WERE A PART OF THAT TIME ERA EVE
