There isino such thingias theisimple truth.
Following a tragic schoolbus accident, high-profile lawyer Mitchell Stephens descends upon a small town. With promises of retribution and a class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of the grieving community, Stephens begins his investigation into the details of the crash. But beneath the town's calm, he uncovers a tangled web of lies, deceit and forbidden desires that mirrors his own troubled personal life. Gradually, we learn that Stephens has his own agenda, and that everyone has secrets to keep.

An sensitive and intelligent film - 5 out of 5 (4/27/1999)
This is just a beautiful and very powerful film that I
strongly recommend to anyone looking for depth and intelligence
in the films they chose to watch. The filmaker has given a lot of
humanity to this true master piece that will stay with you for a long
time after watching it.
And what a rich narrative construction! Truly exceptional!

Life After Death - 4.5 out of 5 (4/14/1999)
The stern and demanding nature of this film is offset by the satisfaction of being able to participate emotionally in it. Good to look at visually, though still letterboxed, and suprisingly good use of sound in such a cerebral offering - full marks to composer Mychael Danne for this. A full set of special features complete an excellent package.
