"A nervous romance."

Why did they mess with the humorous subtitles? - 3 out of 5 (6/11/2001)
One of the funniest moments in "Annie Hall" has been completely RUINED in the DVD release by the ridiculous handling of the subtitles. (The scene where Annie and Alvin talk on the balcony and we see their own thoughts in subtitles.) The subtitles are no longer part of the film but show up as standard DVD captions. Because they don't look like your typical foreign film subtitles, it is just confusing instead of funny. To make matters worse, some moron decided that the viewing public wouldn't get

The Woodman's masterpiece! - 4 out of 5 (7/5/1998)
Annie Hall is the rare kind of comedy that seems to grow more funny with each repeated viewing, and with the passage of time. This was high on my initial wish list of DVD's, and MGM has done right by releasing this movie in a widescreen format, which was the first time I had seen this film presented thus.
If you don't think a simple movie exploring a not so simple relationship sounds interesting, I urge you to watch this--you won't be disappointed. Perhaps no other film has ever captured the
