"Smart andiScary" -The Village Voice
Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) is a young, handsome, Harvard educated Wall Street success, seemingly perfect with his stunning fiancée (Reese Witherspoon) and entourage of high-powered friends. But his circle of friends doesn't know the other Patrick Bateman, the one who lusts for more than status and material things. With a detective (Willem Dafoe) hot on his trail and temptation everywhere, Patrick Bateman can't fight his terrible urges that take him on the pursuit of women, greed and the ultimate crime -- murder! Based on the controversial book by Bret Easton Ellis, American Psycho is a sexy thriller that sets forth a vision that is both terrifying and chilling.

Good overall - 4 out of 5 (9/17/2000)
That's a fairly good movie. The ends takes you a little by surprise. I wish the story could have told us Bateman's childhood and therefore explained his current disturbed behavior.Once again I am ticked off to learn that there is an uncut version out there. I rented the R-rated version. Why can't they just release one full uncut version all the time or put both the censored and the uncut on the same DVD??? Jeez!Is it marketing, stupidity or a little bit of both?...
