Customer Review Beuutifully Written, Well Acted - 3.5 out of 5  (9/12/2002) Walter Bridge (Paul Newman)is an ultra conservative,dominant husband who treats his wife as one would a piece of furniture. He is smug, self righteous, totally unaware of the feelings of his family. India Bridge,played to perfection by Joanne Woodward, is kind, eager to please, but down trodden by her husband and not shown any respect by her children.
