Empire Review A romp through the swamp! - 2.75 out of 5  (8/1/2000) "Swamp Thing" is not exactly what you would call a movie that demands immediate release on DVD. It certainly had impressive credentials. The film was directed by Wes Craven, and based on a comic book that at the time had been written by comic book legends and drawn by Bernie Wrightson. Wrightson also did the character sketches for this film and the make-up looks decent. The strange thing is that this movie is pretty much considered the final nail in the coffin of the comic book.
