"A lark from beginningito end." -NEW YORKER
The sleeper hit of 1965, Cat Ballou was declared an instant classic when its sly blend of Western parody and rapid-fire action hit the screen.
Lee Marvin won an Oscar for Best Actor for his dual role as noseless ("it got bit off in a fight") gunslinger Tim Strawn and as Kid Shelleen, the woozy, boozy has been who goes up against him. Jane Fonda co-stars as Catherine "Cat" Ballou, the schoolmarm-turned-outlaw who teams up with Kid. Singer Nat King Cole and comedian Stubby Kaye also appear, singing the title song, "The Ballad of Cat Ballou."
This wild and wooly adventure is "the ultimate American spoof of the American Western." (Judith Crist)

A cat worth keeping! - 4.75 out of 5 (8/8/2000)
"Cat Ballou" has always been one of those special films. I have my own personal reason for liking it so much.. One I won't go into because you would consider me a loon after waking up from the blissful slumber my story sent you into.
But if you think about it, The film is unique in many other ways.
It was one of the first of a slew of comedy westerns. It also took a strong feminist stance which is something that traditionally opposes the very intent of a western. It was also one of the fi

The funniest western you will ever see. - 4.5 out of 5 (8/20/2000)
Remember when movies used to be fun! There was not hidden meaning, then language wasn't foul, a boy and a girl could be together and NOT make out? Yes those were when movies were fun and entertaining. With the recent Cat Ballou DVD you can return to those wonderful days of yesteryear and remember what you have been missing for so long now.
Cat Ballou is a classic comedy western with unforgetable scenes and dialogue.
The sound transfer is actually, quite good for a 1965 film. Sure, you
