The Dead Shall Rise And Walk The Earth
The Seven Gates of Hell have been torn open, and in three days the dead shall rise and walk the earth. As a reporter (Christopher George) and a psychic (Catriona MacColl) race to close the portals of the damned, they encounter a seething nightmare of unspeakable evil. The city is alive -- with the horrors of the living dead!
Directed and co-written by the legendary Lucio Fulci (Zombie, The Beyond, The New York Ripper), City of The Living Dead features some of the maestro's most shocking and controversial sequences of all time. This is the definitive version of Fulci's hallucinogenic masterpiece of horror: uncut, uncensored and presented in all its brain-ripping, gut-spewing, head-drilling glory!

Finally A decent print! - 3 out of 5 (5/23/2000)
Director Lucio Fulci's follow-up to his ultra gory film Zombie was no less so. City of the Living Dead is also know to video renters as Gates of Hell, Fear in the City of the Living Dead, Twilight of the Dead and several other titles which I cannot pronounce. The film is acknowledged to be one of his master triumphs and it is the second in a series of three evil dead movies, which were bookended by Zombie and The Beyond. The film was supposed to play in the states as Twilight of the Dead, But

... a grudging approval of Fulci. - 3.25 out of 5 (8/18/2002)
I'm no Lucio Fulci fan, but "City of the Living Dead" is an unexpectedly effective horror flick. One Of Fulci's Four Great Movies - 3.75 out of 5 (4/1/2001)
This film along with The Beyond, Zombie and The House By The Cemetery are Fulci's best works. This one delivers the gore just like the others...the Devil's Spew sequence takes the cake. The audio and video are slightly above average while the extra features leave a little to be desired. If you like gory, atmospheric movies then grab this for your collection. Just make sure your date has a strong stomach otherwise you'll be watching this alone.
