First Loves Last Forever
Ethan Hawke stars in this "riveting tale of mystery" (FOX-TV) based on the award-winning best-selling novel.
A murder trial has upset the quiet community of San Piedro, and now this tranquil village has become the center of controversy. For Ishmael Chambers (Hawke), a local reporter, the trial strikes a deep emotional chord when he finds his ex-lover is linked to the case. As he investigates the killing, he uncovers some startling clues that lead him to a shocking discovery.
Co-starring James Cromwell, Sam Shepard and Max von Sydow, Snow Falling On Cedars is "hypnotic, mesmerizing and inspiring" (ABC-TV).

One of the WORSE ever - 2 out of 5 (10/31/2002)
I enjoy Ethan Hawke movies. Before Sunrise is one of my favorite movie of all times. I heard the book was suppose to be good. But this movie ws just terrible. If it was any slower you would be watching it in rewind mode. So dont waste your money but more importantly your valuable time.

MAX VON SYDOW STEALS THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 5 out of 5 (11/13/2001)
This film has an incredibly touching story and is brilliantly executed by Director Scott Hicks. It is so multi-layered, with many underlying themes such as racial intolerance and the need to move on, the flashbacks are beautifully done, dreamlike and surreal in nature, this is another one of those films that has been incredibly underrated and overlooked, especially by the Oscars. Max von Sydow, the brilliant legendary actor gives the best supporting performance of the year, to think he did the s

I missed this movie when it was screened here in Singapore. That was because only one cinema was willing to screen it. This movie was not popular at all, maybe because people tend to go for movies with shorter titles (I joked about it with my friend).
I was so desperate to get this movie and I had to ask one of my friends who went to USA to buy it for me (it did not pass the DVD censorship in Singapore). But the movie is worth all the trouble because it's simply the best drama for 1999.
