"Full Of Action, Suspense And Heart!" -Jason Miller, ABC-TV
With Russell Crowe (The Insider, L.A. Confidential), Hank Azaria (Godzilla, The Bird Cage) and Burt Reynolds leading an incredible all-star cast, here's a fun, uplifting and action-packed story that everyone will love! A remote, hockey-obsessed town populated by 633 of the most eccentric characters you'd ever want to meet, Mystery is the kind of place where nothing ever changes. But then life as they know it gets turned completely upside down! When a publicity stunt brings the world-famous New York Rangers -- and the national spotlight -- to Mystery for a game with the local team of weekend warriors, the whole town rises to meet the challenge of a lifetime! Also starring Mary McCormack (True Crime, Deep Impact) and Lolita Davidovich (Play It To The Bone, Jungle 2 Jungle) in another critical favorite from the hit-making director of Austin Powers 1 & 2 -- you'll stand and cheer as this ragtag bunch shows that nothing can melt their dreams of a miracle on ice!

A great movie! A lousy disc! - 3.25 out of 5 (5/2/2000)
It's Hockey Playoff time! My beloved Penguins are in the playoffs and kicking butt! So what do I do?
I watch "Mystery Alaska!"
Well, it's not like I get paid to watch Hockey!
Anyways, "Mystery Alaska" is a pretty close second. The critics call it the "Rocky of Hockey", a snippet so glib, it makes me angry I didn't think of it first!
The town of Mystery Alaska is a town rich with Hockey tradition. Their entire existence surrounds the Saturday game. Players get asked to be in the

Great movie, short of extra features - 3.5 out of 5 (9/8/2000)
This is a nice DVD for a night in, the cast is awesome and the movie is great. I especially like the sound mix and clarity of picture of this disc.
I have one question, why does the Region 3 disc come with a sexier, nicer shot of the cast (back shot of the hockey players with nothing but the jock strap on), while the Region 1 only shows a G-rated picture?
I'd be more delighted if the Region 1 disc gives us the same treatment and I'm sure that shot will make a lot of people happy out there

Great "beer & take-away" film - 4 out of 5 (8/23/2000)
Excellent light-hearted view of small town hockey.
A case of "Northern exposure" meets a mild version of "Slapshot". Good viewing for a night in.

Mystery, Alaska is a hit! - 4.5 out of 5 (5/3/2000)
Russel Crowe, Hank Azaria (Voice of Moe on the simpsons), and Burt Reynolds star in this funny and sad story of a town that takes hockey very serouis. The town is given a chance to play NHL's N.Y. Rangers in their home town. I really liked this movie and I suggest if you are a hockey fan and love hockey movies then this one is surely for you.
