It's theitime of your life that may lastia lifetime.
It's Samantha Baker's Sweet Sixteen and no one in her entire family remembers the important occasion. John Hughes, the writer of National Lampoon's Vacation show how coming-of-age can be full of surprises in this warm-hearted and histerically funny teenage comedy starring 16-year-old Molly Ringwald.
She's your average teen, enduring creepy freshmen, a spoiled older sister who's getting married tomorrow (and hogging all the attention), confused parents, unfeeling grandparents who make jokes about her flat chest, and the Big Blonde on Campus who's standing in the way of romantic bliss with the boy of her dreams. But wait...there's still the school dance, and the day isn't over yet. Can she hang in without a corsage and still get a goodnight kiss?
This on-target look at the sometimes humorous trials of growing up as an American adolescent features outstanding performances from Paul Dooley, Emmy winner Blanche Baker, and Academy Award® nominee Justin Henry.

Very, Very Poor - 1.75 out of 5 (7/12/1999)
It's an average movie but I like it. The chance to get it in widescreen (and at a discounted price) made it seem worthwhile..... but when I got it home I was horrified.
I didn't notice on the box that is is Dolby Digital MONO but one quick listen will prove it to you without any doubt. If you're one of those people that have never seen artifacts on a DVD then this will show you what they look like throughout 90% of the movie.
The menu consists of scene selection, and looks kinda pretty b

Excellent movie, however lacks DVD features - 3.25 out of 5 (5/15/1998)
Sixteen Candles is an absolutely hilarious movie.
However, the DVD is very lacking in features,
other than the fact that you get the flick in
widescreen. The chapter search is limited, and
there are no "bonus materials". But, you'll laugh
through the entire thing!
