Monumental Filmmaking - 4.75 out of 5 (12/8/2001)
This film in my opinion towers over films like Star Wars and The Matrix. Mostly in terms of story and visuals. And the Score, Oh my God, it has to be the best score ever written, and fits perfectly with this film. I also have the 3 hour region 2 DVD version of this film which is even better. But I prefer to see the film in widescreen and for that, this is the version to watch. I also want to mention the wonderful cameo performances by Linda Hunt and Max von Sydow who happens to be my favorite ac

I've always wondered how Frank Herbert feels about this film. - 3.5 out of 5 (11/2/2001)
I remember with vivid clarity when this movie first came out. I was 11 at the time, and I, at the time, thought it was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen.
But now that I look back on it, much more mature and experienced and, most significantly, having read the book, now I have very mixed feelings.
I must strongly disagree with Mr. Marc (above): the special effects in this film are extraordinary, especially given the time in which it was made. Because you see, these days CGI graph
