The tale of possession that shocked millions.
The belief in evil. And the belief that evil can be cast out. From these two strands of faith, a frightening and realistic story of an innocent girl inhabited by a malevolent entity. As a university student in 1949, Blatty heard of the exorcism of a 14-year old Maryland boy. Two decades later that incident inspired Blatty's electrifying novel.

GARBAGE--get the 25th anniversary SE. - 3 out of 5 (2/1/1999)
I love this film a ton, but do not waste your time with this God-awful DVD. The transfer looks like crap and there is just one (very cheesy) trailer. For the same price you can go out and get the 25th anniversary Special Edition--a great DVD.

I wear two hats . . . - 3.5 out of 5 (8/4/1998)
To see the Exorcist on my own little TV made me smile since the film is "officially" banned in the UK for home use. The film kept most of its presence even on the small screen. The biggest dissapointment had to be the DVD Xtras! What extras? Pathetic attempt to present you with cast information. And I'm not even gonna go into the trailer. A good film but more could have been done for the DVD Format....but then there's always the special edition!

Still the scariest film ever! - 4.75 out of 5 (7/13/1998)
The Exorcist has never looked or sounded as good as it does on DVD. Kudos to Warner Bros. for giving this film the treatment it deserves!
The Oscar winning sound effects are creepier than ever in digital sound--and the movie in letterbox format simply looks superb. The digital transfer is great--you might say, the pea soup never looked so green!
This is a film that maintains the power to chill decades after its initial release, and repeated viewings and numerous imitations have done nothing
