A strange movie! - 3 out of 5 (4/25/2000)
Most critics point to "Blue Velvet" as the turning point in David Lynch's career. His career had been primarily filled with doing other people's films such as "Dune" and putting his own unique spin on the tale. "Blue Velvet" is pure Lynch as one can see the humble beginning of "Twin Peaks" in this picture of a terrible secret living beneath the most quiet of places.
The town of Lumberton is such a place. It's a quiet suburban town that seems straight out of the fifties. The opening refrains

It's a Strange World - 3.5 out of 5 (5/28/2000)
Many critics placed David Lynch's BLUE VELVET on the top of their lists of "Best
Movie of the 1980's", and it's not hard to see why. Hypnotic, quirky, disturbing, but never
boring, BLUE VELVET is nothing short of a masterpiece from one of America's finest
film makers.
