Synopsis He wanted Cuba. She wanted his heart. Her government wanted him dead. A true story of love, passion and betrayal set in the early days of the Cuban Revolution, as privileged nineteen-year-old American beauty Marita Lorenz deserts her family and country to become the lover of the infamous Fidel Castro. While on a cruise with her family, Marita (Gabrielle Anwar, Scent of A Woman) is charmed by the much older Castro (Joe Mantegna. Godfather II), who demands that she become his secretary and join him in Cuba. She complies, risking everything for the man she loves and his ideals. The couple's elation over Castro's rise to power and Marita's pregnancy is soon interrupted when Marita awakens to find herself in her native New York City. Her mother (Jill Clayburgh, An Unmarried Woman), an employee of the U.S. governemt, tells Marita that Castro has had the child aborted. The heartbroken girl is then introduced to FBI and CIA agents who convince her return to Cuba to assassinate the man she once adored. Yet as Marita sets out to complete her deadly mission she discovers the truth about her government...and about the child she thought that she had lost.
