Synopsis
"A whimsical comedy with hilarity andiromanceiin equal portions." - Variety

Meet Gillian Holroyd (Kim Novak), Greenwich Village's most seductive sorceress. Powerful, glamrous, and a wee bit bored, Gillian knows that witches can't fall in love. But they can have fun...especially if their lover belongs to another woman! So when Gillian discovers handsome new neighbor Shep Henderson (James Stewart) is the fiance of an old college nemesis (Janice Rule), she promptly puts the befuddled publisher under her spell. But while her sex may have heated up Shep's heart, it has also unthawed her own, leading to a romantic compilation that not even Pyewacket -- Gillian's mind-reading cat -- could have foreseen.

Bell, Book and Candle (1958) - 4 out of 5  (8/31/2002)
Columbia's classic release of my all time favorite BEDAZZLING movie is: BELL, BOOK, and CANDLE starring the captivating James Stewart (Vertigo, It's a Wonderful Life) playing Shepherd Henderson and Kim Novak (Vertigo) playing Gillian Holroyd as a witch during the 1950's living in New York City owning an antique store. She meets up with her neighbor, a charming publisher, Shep Henderson (Legendary, Jimmy Stewart renown for his beloved role of George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life). Thi   more >>

Great movie with a good transfer. - 3.5 out of 5  (8/8/2000)
The LTBX transfer is cuts off the top and the bottom of the full frame version, adding a smidgen to the left and right and is more satisfying. Finally a widescreen transfer of this unusual comedy. Great performances and James Wong Howe cinematography make this a must for movie fans.   more >>
