Empire Review A pucking good family film (you don't actually print these, do you?) - 3 out of 5  (4/25/2000) The "Mighty Ducks" is a textbook example of how to market a film. The film was originally made to promote the new Disney hockey franchise. It was made for a small budget and then coupled with a huge advertising budget. It was rolled out as a family film with a record number of first-week screens and it became a huge hit, earning over seven times the original costs and spawning two sequels and one TV series.
