Famous Authors Series, The: John Keats
Probably the most talented of the English romantic poets, Keats was highly prolific. Born in London, Keats' parents died during his childhood. He gave up practicing medicine to become a poet, but did use these skills in nursing his brother Tom who died of tuberculosis. He was known for the biographical value of his poems and for his philosophic insights.
Keats published his first poems between 1818 and 1819. Some of those works include To Autumn, The Ever of St. Agnes and Ode to a Nightingale. He died in Rome of tuberculosis at the age of 26.
